Cleveland HS Summer Bridge Program | Applications Due June 13

This year, Seattle Parks and Recreation Community Learning Center is helping to partner Aki Kurose Middle School, Mercer Middle School and Cleveland and Rainier Beach High in a FREE, 6-week long summer program open to incoming Cleveland Freshmen.

Program In 3 Parts – Details Below

  1. June 30 – July 11: Career Labs 21st Century Job Skills Training at Aki Kurose Middle School from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
  2. July 14 – August 1: CHS Connects at Cleveland HS from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
    • Program will offer daily lessons focused on Financial Literacy, Community Focused Projects and what to expect as a high school student at Cleveland High School.  
    • Students are eligible for up to $300 stipend based on attendance and participation. Stipend amount will be reduced for absences.
  3. August 3 – August 5: At University of Oregon (exact dates are TBD)
    • Students will have the opportunity to attend a 3-day/2-night incentive field trip to the University of Oregon. Students will be selected based on their attendance, participation, completion of lessons, classroom leadership and overall effort.

Applications are due by June 13 to the CHS Program Director. Selected students will receive a confirmation email once selected for the program.

All-City Band

Seattle All-City Band

Established in 1951 by Seattle Public Schools, All-City Band has a reputation for excellence in music education, student leadership, and entertainment. The band brings together students from schools throughout the greater Seattle area to entertain in upwards of 20 parades and community celebrations each summer. SPS Summer Music

Summer Music at Seattle Public Schools

Summer Music typically takes place July 10 through July 21. Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Summer Music Program is a way for students to continue their music learning during the summer months. The program is designed for students entering grades 5-9 (fourth grade completed). Students must have completed at least one year of instrumental instruction. Operation of Summer Music is contingent upon sufficient enrollment.
