Weekly Family Newsletter

February 9, 2024

Thank you, Cleveland Families, and Happy Lunar New Year! Thank you to our Cleveland PTSA and the many families who volunteered to support our Winter Formal event! The evening was a huge success in part because many of you brought food, cooked a meal, volunteered at coat check, served beverages, helped decorate, and supported with set-up and tear-down. Cleveland is fortunate to have the family support that we do – thank you for helping make the night special for our students! This week, we want to extend a warm welcome to you join us on Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. for our Lunar New Year festival hosted by Asian Student Union. Please join us for an evening of free food, raffles, activities, and student performances.

Eat delicious pizza and support the Cleveland PTSA! Feb. 11-15

We’ve partnered with our friends at Tutta Bella to raise funds for the PTSA and here’s your invitation to participate. From Feb. 11-15, Tutta Bella is donating 20% of all net sales directly to Cleveland PTSA. If you are ordering pizza for the Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day, or just because, please get it from Tutta Bella!

How it works: Dine at one of Tutta Bella’s neighborhood restaurants or place an online order at for delivery, takeout or curbside. Use code “EasyAsPieEaglesPTSA” when you checkout online or at the restaurant.

Please share our code and donation details with friends and family! This fundraiser is valid at any Tutta Bella location (at Kirkland/University Village grocery store kiosks, orders must be placed from – not the registers in QFC). Many thanks to Tutta Bella for their generous support!

The Seattle Promise deadline is February 16

The Seattle Promise is an opportunity for all SPS students to go to college for free after they graduate from high school, and the Seattle Promise application deadline is approaching on February 16.

The Seattle Promise Outreach Specialists are continuing to provide in-person and remote application support. Students can attend a virtual application workshop or contact their outreach specialist directly by email, phone or text. Even for students who are on a four-year track, it only takes 15 minutes to keep this option open and available should their circumstances change post-graduation. Students can submit an application to maintain eligibility on the Seattle Promise website. Start of 2nd Semester, Courses, Grades

1st semester is ending Jan 31st and second semester will start on Thursday, Feb 1. Student schedules for second semester will be available in the source Jan 31st and report cards along with transcripts will be sent home to families the week before mid-winter break.

Schedules generally stay the same, except for electives. With the exception of error or academic misplacement, schedule changes do not happen in second semester. Requests for switching teachers or academies will require family to reach out to administration.

Here are the procedures for the first 10 days (Feb. 1 – Feb. 14) of the semester for dropping or adding classes. During this time students do not receive a W on their transcript for dropping or switching a class.

  • To change a schedule, students will fill out a schedule change form found in the Student Hub (link in newsletter) under schedule change forms. Preferred method is to fill out the form electronically and have the parental guardian sign it and email the form. Forms will also be available in the Counseling Center.
  • Students email completed schedule change forms to their assigned School Counselor:
  • Napsiyah Sallee: Students ( A- He )
  • Claire Abe: Students ( Hi-Ng )
  • Chloe Kimiai: Students ( Nh-Z )

Course Registration in Advisory

The Online Class Registration portal in the Source will open from January 24 – February 26. Students will begin the registration process this week in advisory, and will have an individual meeting with their school counselor through their Humanities class in February to review course selections and ensure they are on track for graduation.
