PSAT Information
SPS School-Day PSAT/NMSQT
PSAT School Year 2025-26
Juniors are invited to take the PSAT at Cleveland HS on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 and it is provided free from the district.
Any students who wish to take the PSAT Test at Cleveland HS must have an SPS-issued laptop. If you are a student from outside SPS, a laptop will be provided to you on testing day.
Any Cleveland student that does not have an SPS-issued laptop and wishes to participate in PSAT testing on October 14, 2025 must complete a Laptop Form to let Kayla Barr know when you will come to Cleveland to pick up your laptop. Students must pick up their SPS-issued laptop by 2 p.m., Oct. 9, 2025.
Grade 11 PSAT/NMSQT
- October 14, 2025: School-Day PSAT for all Grade 11 students.
- The College Board only provides districts the Digital PSAT for the school-day PSAT.
- SPS students will be automatically registered for the PSAT.
- SPS administers the PSAT assessments free of charge during a regular school day.
Grade 11: Students have the opportunity to take the free PSAT test at Cleveland HS. It is not required.
- Parents who do not wish their student to take the PSAT must fill out the Attendance Notice Form sent directly to parents through Talking Points (10/3) and it must be completed by Mon, Oct. 13, 2025. Students who do not wish to test should arrive at school at 1:15 p.m on October 14, 2025.
- Students who wish to leave after the PSAT must be excused by a parent or guardian by Mon, Oct. 13, 2025. Parents/Guardians who wish to dismiss their student from classes after testing should use the dismissal form that will be sent out sent directly to parents through Talking Points (10/3). Students who receive parent permission to leave early on the day of testing will be marked Absent Unexcused.
- Attendance will be taken on Oct 14, 2025. Students who do not have parent permission for opting-out from testing or for leaving after testing will be marked Absent Unexcused.

National Merit Scholarship Program
The PSAT/NMSQT is the route of entry into the National Merit Scholarship Program for Juniors. Questions specific to National Merit Scholarship Program should be directed to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation or to College Board.
Free or Reduced Lunch (FRL) Benefits
The PSAT/NMSQT helps Juniors prepare for the SAT and is used to qualify students for scholarships and advanced learning opportunities. These tests are offered to all Juniors free of charge; no pre-registration is required.
Students who qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch (FRL) may be eligible to receive additional benefits from the College Board such as unlimited sending of scores. In order to receive these benefits, please complete the Family Income Survey and visit the district School-Day PSAT page for more information.
Why Take the PSAT?
- Provides valuable feedback on strengths and the skills necessary for college study. Students can then focus their preparation on areas that could most benefit from additional study or practice. The PSAT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills and writing skills.
- Gives insight on how a performance on an admissions test compares to others applying to college. Helps students prepare for the SAT. Students will become familiar with the kinds of questions and the exact directions they will see on the SAT.
- Could help Juniors qualify for scholarships. The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) for Juniors is a program co-sponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corp. (NMSC).
Grade 11 PSAT/NMSQT Scores
Visit CollegeBoard to view scores. Students will need to create a free College Board account (if they have not already) in order to see their scores and use them to prepare for the SAT.
Using/Understanding PSAT/NMSQT
Scores to Prepare for the SAT
Students will need to log onto their College Board accounts to view their PSAT/NMSQT scores and use them to prepare for the SAT. Refer to the College Board Getting Scores site for all the information you need and a video as well.
Students should receive their original PSAT test booklets. If you would like to learn more about how to understand your scores and get tips for preparing for the SAT or need assistance with your College Board account, or your Counselor.
