SAT Information

SPS School-Day SAT

Seniors are invited to take the SAT at Cleveland HS on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 and it is provided free from the district.

Any students who wish to take the SAT Test at Cleveland HS must have an SPS-issued laptop. If you are a student from outside SPS, a laptop will be provided to you on testing day.  

Any Cleveland student that does not have an SPS-issued laptop and wishes to participate in SAT testing on October 14, 2025 must complete a Laptop Form to let Kayla Barr know when you will come to Cleveland to pick up your laptop. Students must pick up their SPS-issued laptop by 2 p.m., Oct. 9, 2025.

Grade 12 Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

  • October 14, 2025: School-Day SAT for all Grade 12 students.
    • The College Board only provides districts the Digital SAT for the school-day SAT.
    • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is the most widely used college admission test in the country. The test can be used as a substitute graduation requirement if the student didn’t meet passing scores on other assessments in ELA or math.
    • SPS students will be automatically registered for the SAT.
    • SPS administers the SAT assessments free of charge during a regular school day.

Grade 12: Students have the opportunity to take the free SAT test at Cleveland HS. It is not required.

  • Parents who do not wish their student to take the SAT must fill out the Attendance Notice Form sent directly to parents through Talking Points (10/3) and it must be completed by Mon, Oct. 13, 2025. Students who do not wish to test should arrive at school at 1:15 p.m on October 14, 2025. 
  • Students who wish to leave after the SAT must be excused by a parent or guardian by Mon, Oct. 13, 2025. Parents/Guardians who wish to dismiss their student from classes after testing should use the dismissal form that will be sent out sent directly to parents through Talking Points (10/3). Students who receive parent permission to leave early on the day of testing will be marked Absent Unexcused.
  • Attendance will be taken on Oct 14, 2025. Students who do not have parent permission for opting-out from testing or for leaving after testing will be marked Absent Unexcused.

Practice Resources & Information

Visit the Free SAT Practice at College Board for testing tips and resources. Refer to the district SAT page for more information about testing and Seattle Public Schools. The SAT is an opportunity to meet the Graduation Pathway requirement. A qualifying score on the SAT can be used as a graduation pathway for ELA and/or math. Current qualifying scores are 410 for ELA and 430 for math.

Free or Reduced Lunch (FRL) Benefits

The SAT is the most widely used college admission test in the country. SAT scores demonstrate students are prepared for college with necessary skills and knowledge. Students who qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch (FRL) may be eligible to receive additional benefits from the College Board such as unlimited sending of scores. In order to receive these benefits, please complete the Family Income Survey and visit the district School-Day SAT page for more information.

The school-day administration offers these benefits:

  • No cost. The school-day test is free for SPS students.
  • Students may also send up to four score reports for free. The school-day test permits students to send score reports to as many as four colleges or scholarship programs.
  • Additional pathway to graduation. A qualifying score on the SAT can be used as a graduation pathway for ELA and/or math. Current qualifying scores are 410 for ELA and 430 for math.

The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) focuses on the knowledge and skills that the best evidence indicates are essential for college and career readiness and success. This test is composed of four sections: Math, Reading, Writing and Language, and Essay. 


Grade 12 SAT Scores

Scores will be released for SAT tests in October TBD. Students will need to create a free College Board account (if they have not already) in order to see their scores.
